I think I’ve developed a doctor phobia. I have a doctor appointment today and have been having low-level anxiety all morning.
I find the whole experience demoralizing.
I hate arriving on time and sitting in the waiting room for 30 minutes as if my time doesn’t matter.
I hate breathing air that is second only to recycled airplane air in terms of how noxious it is.
I hate it that as far as the staff is concerned I’m just a patient ID with an insurance card.
I hate that now you have to wear paper shirts that make even the paper gowns they used to give you seem modest.
Mostly though, I hate this particular doctor. She has all the warmth of an iceburg. (Someday when I can stomach it, I have quite a story about her). So why do I see her you ask? Because there are only two doctors in her specialty nearby and the other one makes this one seem positively warm and fuzzy.

I hear you! My cats get treated with more respect when they go to the vet than I do by my doctor.
I guess it takes a certain personality to be a doctor....
I believe in avoiding doctors at all costs, until you can't. They fix whatever is wrong with you, but you always end up with more problems....
rafi g - I agree. It's like going to the mechanic. I go in to fix a tail light, leave with a new one intact, only to realize that now my brakes are out! It's a conspiracy...

JML - I know!!! I have seriously contemplated asking the vet if she is accepting new patients.
Rafi - Exactly!!!!! I avoid the doctor at all costs. Usually, unless it's a broken bone or a heart attack I won't go. Inevitably I end up worse for the wear.

Nobody likes going to the doctor. It's one of life's necessary evils sometimes. I hope it went well.
